Microcap company Topaz Resources, Inc. (OTCBB: TOPZ) has recently come out and given an update on the Barnett Shale Combo Oil Field. This area is the oil part of the zone.
Topaz Resources Commences Work Over Program on Its North Texas Shallow Oil Project
11/30/10 -- Topaz Resources, Inc. (OTCBB: TOPZ) today announced that it has commenced the first phase of its work over program on its North Texas shallow oil project, which comprises 543.69 acres with a history of proved producing oil wells, located in Wichita County.
The first phase of the work over program will involve remedial work on existing well bores, which will include pulling the rods and tubing, checking the down hole pumps, cleaning the well bores, shooting the fluid levels and resetting the pumps.
Topaz expects this work to take a few weeks and to provide immediate and significant increase in production

Gonzales County, Texas: Eagle Ford Shale update

Penn Virginia Corp. (PVA) announced that it will acquire approximately 6,800 acres in Gonzales County, Texas in the Eagle Ford Shale. The land was acquired for $31.1 million, totaling about $4600 per acre.
The acreage is estimated to contain over 40 horizontal well locations, with working interest averaging approximately 73 percent (net revenue interest averaging approximately 55 percent). They will operate and expect reserves from wells on the acreage to be predominantly oil.
A. James Dearlove, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "We are pleased to have expanded our portfolio to include a position in one of the most exciting new plays in the industry. This acquisition, in a core area of the Eagle Ford Shale, provides us with a high-quality; oily position which we believe will be an excellent use of the proceeds from recent divestitures of non-core assets."

Permian Basin Oil Field, Texas

Currently, Pioneer Natural Resources Co. (PXD) is the largest operator in the Permian Basin with approximately 20,000 locations and roughly 900,000 acres under lease in the Permian Basin. Pioneer Natural Resources Co. (PXD) also predicts that they will eventually be one of the largest operators in South Texas with their Eagle Ford Fleet.
The Permian Basin is a sedimentary basin located in the western part of Texas and in the southeastern part of New Mexico. It reaches from just south of Lubbock, Texas, to just south of Midland and Odessa, extending westward into the southeastern part of New Mexico. The Permian Basin region includes the following counties:
- Andrews County, Andrews, TX
- Borden County, Gail, TX
- Crane County, Crane, TX
- Dawson County, Lamesa, TX
- Ector County, Odessa, TX
- Gaines County, Seminole, TX
- Glasscock County, Garden City, TX
- Howard County, Big Spring, TX
- Loving County, Mentone, TX
- Martin County, Stanton, TX
- Midland County, Midland, TX
- Pecos County, Fort Stockton, TX

The Permian Basin is a large oil and natural gas producing area which is part of the Mid-Continent Oil Producing Area. Up to the beginning of 1993, total production for that region was over 14.9 billion barrels. The towns of Midland and Odessa serve as the headquarters for oil production activities in the basin.
