McMullen County, TX: Eagle Ford Shale Update

Doxa Energy, Ltd. (DXAEF.PK) recently released an operational update announcing the completion of the Epley No. 1-H, a horizontal Eagle Ford well located in McMullen County, Texas. The well was recently shut-in for final hookup, pipeline and facility construction. Prior to shut-in, the well was being flowed back on a restricted choke (14/64") at a rate of 400 BOEPD (energy equivalent of 250 BOPD, 900 MCFD and 250 BWPD) with a flowing casing pressure of 1,920 psi, and approximately 15% of the frac load water recovered after two weeks of flow. Initial sales of oil production from the Epley well have commenced and the Company plans to release additional details once the well has been placed back on production with facility construction complete. Based on confirmation of commercially viable results on this initial well, Doxa expects that up to 5 gross wells may ultimately be drilled on the Epley Project.

McMullen County, Texas: Eagle Ford Shale update

Doxa Energy Ltd. (DXA.V) recently announced that they have successfully completed multi-stage fracture stimulation on the Epley #1H in Mcmullen County, Texas in the Eagle Ford shale. Flow back of the well has commenced. Doxa management has not yet reported results, but will do so when all operations are complete. Pipeline and facility construction is under way as a result of the establishment of commercial production from the Epley project. The Epley #1H is the first horizontal well in which Doxa has participated within the prolific Eagle Ford Shale trend of South Texas. Doxa owns a 15% working interest with a respective 11.25% net revenue interest under this project, which is operated by San Isidro Development Company. Subject to commercially viable results on this initial well, Doxa expects that up to 5 gross wells may ultimately be drilled on the Epley project.

Zavala County, Texas: Eagle Ford Shale

Today I researched the Eagle Ford shale in Zavala County, Texas. The following companies are currently operating in Zavala County:

Petrohawk Energy (HK) currently owns 87,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford shale of Zavala County, Texas. They completed the Ranch C #1H well in 2Q 2010 with a production rate of 350 barrels of oil/day. They plan to spud their third well in Zavala County by the end of 2010.

Crimson Exploration (CXPO) owns a 95% working interest in roughly 4,600 gross acres in southeast Zavala County, Texas. Activity has increased greatly in the Eagle Ford Shale in the oil corridor of the play for Crimson. They are in the process of reviewing the area for potential late 2010 or early 2011 drilling activity.


Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) has increased its acreage position in the Eagle Ford Shale to 550,000 net acres, an increase of 150,000 net acres from the first quarter of 2010. Chesapeake Energy has drilled and completed 7 gross wells to date on its acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale, and estimates that it will operate an average of 5 rigs during 2010. Their most recent well completed in Zavala County, the Traylor North 1H, produced 300,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day and approximately 930 barrels of oil per day.

Doxa Energy currently operates on 1,138 net acres in Zavala County, Texas in the Eagle Ford shale. They plan to spud their first well by Q3 2011.
