Big Tex Horizontal Well - Bissett 9701 - Producing 788 BOED
Whiting Petroleum (WLL) has released data on one if their Big Tex well today, Bissett 9701, which is located in the Permian Basin. Whiting Petroleum (WLL) is an oil driller that focuses on the Bakken Shale & Niobrara Shale but has recently tested the Big Tex.
Big Tex First Horizontal Well, Bissett 9701, Producing 788 BOE/D After Fracture Stimulation
Big Tex Prospect. Whiting fraced its first horizontal well at the Big Tex prospect the first week of July 2011. The Bissett 9701, located in the Delaware Basin in Pecos County, Texas, produced 788 BOE per day (92% oil) from the Wolfbone on July 25, 2011. The well is still cleaning up after frac. The well's 3,610-foot lateral was fracture stimulated in a total of 16 stages, all using sliding sleeves.
As of July 15, 2011, Whiting had accumulated 116,494 gross (88,062 net) acres in our Big Tex prospect area in Pecos, Reeves and Ward Counties, Texas in the Delaware Basin. Our average acreage cost to date is $540 per net acre, and we have an average working interest of 76% and an average net revenue interest of 57%.

Additives for Hydraulic Fracturing - Questerre Energy Corp.
Questerre Energy Corporation (QEC) is the first company in Québec to publicly disclose the additives that it uses in its hydraulic fracturing operations.
The information includes the typical concentration of the additive, the main compounds in the additives and the specific and common uses of the compounds. On average, Questerre has used nine of these highly diluted additives that amount to 0.12% of the total fluid used with the remaining 99.88% made up of water and sand. This is less than typical industry concentrations of 0.5%. The information is available on the Company's website at www.questerre.com.

"Making the composition of our frac fluids available to the public is just one of the ways we are working to respect the social acceptability of shale gas development in Quebec."
Hydraulic fracturing operations in the Utica shale are conducted at a minimum depth of 1000 metres below the fresh water zones in Quebec. This fresh water is separated from the frac fluids by several layers of steel casing and high quality cement. The highly diluted additives are carefully managed and are commonly found in household products.
"Producing natural gas from Quebec's Utica Shale presents an extraordinary opportunity for Quebec. Billions of dollars in royalties, local employment of over 7500 jobs and the repatriation of the 2 billion dollars that Quebec currently sends to western Canada each year are just a few of the benefits," said Binnion. "Myths from US based political groups which are also used as a source of information by environmental groups in Quebec should not prevent Quebecers from benefiting from this opportunity."

Mainland Resources, Inc. and JV Partner Spud Third Haynesville Shale Well on the Company's DeSoto Parish, Louisiana Property
Mainland Resources, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: MNLU; 5MN-Frankfurt) a Nevada Corporation (the "Company") reports that its Joint Venture (JV) Partner and Operator has commenced drilling operations on the Company's third JV well to evaluate additional potential of the Haynesville Shale gas formation on Mainland's Louisiana leases.
The Dehan et al 15#1H was spud on May 4, 2009 and is currently drilling at 6850 feet.
The well will be drilled to approximately 12,000 feet or a depth to sufficiently test the Haynesville Shale formation. Mainland will own a 25.42% Working Interest in this unit. The JV Partner and Operator will have a 38.12472% Working Interest in the well.

Haynesville Shale: Caddo Parish, Louisiana Goodrich Petroleum GDP Well
GDP has completed its initial horizontal Haynesville Shale well, the Chesapeake Energy Corporation-operated Holland 17H-1, which tested at a rate of approximately 14.5 MMcf per day on a 24/64 inch choke with 6,000 psi. The well, which was drilled to 16,200 feet, had a horizontal displacement of approximately 4,400 feet (3,800 feet cased), and is located in the Company's Bethany-Longstreet area in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Goodrich owns a 50% working interest in the well, Chesapeake owns 40% and Plains Exploration & Production Company owns 10%.

The Company has completed its Estes 2H (100% WI), a James Lime horizontal well on its Cotton South prospect area, which tested at 7.0 MMcf per day on a 35/64 inch choke with 1,500 psi.

Haynesville Shale: Encore ( EAC ) 10/29/08 Drilling Update
The Stockman Field in East Texas continues to outperform the Company's expectations.Four new Travis Peak wells were brought online in the quarter with an average IP of 3.6 MMcfe/D. The most recent well, the Wheeler 3, completed the second stage fracture stimulation in the Travis Peak at a gross peak rate of 6.2 MMcf/D and 90 Bbls/D.
The Company plans to spud its first Haynesville shale well in November 2008 at the Greenwood Waskom field. This well is expected to be online in the first quarter of 2009.

The Utica Shale Play - Canada 7-09-08
Keep an eye on this shale as it is estimated to hold over 24 trillion cubic feet in Natural Gas Reserves. Action really only started on this shale last year beginning with Forest Oil. Haynesville Shale started I believe in 2005-2006.
