Wolfcamp Shale Update - Cimarex Energy (XEC)

Cimarex Energy (XEC) provides an update on drilling for oil in the Wolfcamp Shale located in Eddy County, NM

In the fourth-quarter, four horizontal Wolfcamp wells were brought on production in southern Eddy County New Mexico (White City) and northern Culberson County Texas. The wells brought on in the fourth-quarter had first-30 day production rates averaging 6.8 MMcfe/d, comprised of 38% gas, 31% oil and 31% NGL. On average these wells have the highest oil contribution of the wells drilled to date in the Wolfcamp. For 2011 Cimarex drilled and completed 11 gross (10 net) horizontal Wolfcamp wells, bringing total wells in the play to 18 gross (16.8 net). First 30-day production from all the wells has averaged over 6.5 MMcfe/d, comprised of 44% gas, 24% oil and 32% NGL.

Concho Resources, Inc. (CXO): Avalon shale update

Concho Resources, Inc. (CXO) announced recently that it plans to drill its first horizontal well in the Avalon shale by the end of 2010.

Concho Resources is an independent oil and gas company with an interest in the acquisition, exploration and development of natural gas properties. Their resources lie mainly in the Permian Basin of southeast New Mexico and west Texas. The Permian Basin is the largest onshore oil and gas basin in the United States.

Chesapeake Energy Corp (CHK): Avalon Shale update

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) has drilled 8 wells to date in the Avalon shale on their 120,000 net acres across Texas and New Mexico. They predict that each well in the Avalon shale can produce 350 MBOE with an unrisked resource of 200 MMBOE. Chesapeake anticipates operating an average of roughly six rigs in the Permian Basin unconventional liquid plays by the end of 2010 and plans to drill approximately 50 net wells.

Eagle Ford Shale Pipeline: Spectra Energy Corp. (SE)

Spectra Energy Corp. (SE) announced that in the Eagle Ford shale, DCP is laying additional pipe to connect producers to nearly 250 million cubic feet a day of its existing processing capacity which will be available, beginning in 2011. In the Permian Basin, DCP is restarting and expanding its Roberts Ranch processing facility to provide up to 70 million a day of capacity for the Wolfberry region beginning in September. And they're adding new gathering and processing capacity for Avalon Shale volumes being developed now in southeast New Mexico.

Samson Oil and Gas (SSN) announced that they will spud a new well in the Western Permian Basin in Lea County, NM. The Bone Spring Formation in State GC#2 well will be fracture-stimulated in September.
