McKenzie County, ND - Bakken Shale

November 9, 2011 - Kodiak Oil & Gas (KOG) recently gave an update on their
McKenzie County North Dakota Bakken Shale and Three Forks Play. Kodiak Oil & Gas (KOG) is one of the up and coming exploration companies in the Bakken Shale due to their aggressive mineral rights leasing binge.

Kodiak’s five operated drilling rigs are presently drilling ahead on multi-well drilling pads. Three rigs are drilling in McKenzie County, and two rigs are drilling in Dunn County.

For the remainder of the fourth quarter 2011, Kodiak expects to complete or commence completion operations on an additional nine gross (6.1 net) operated wells, including two gross (0.8 net) wells from the recent acquisition. These operated wells are located on four drilling pads consisting of three, two-well pads and one, three-well pad. Drilling has been completed and operations are underway to construct surface equipment and pipelines on each of the pads. Currently, two gross (0.8 net) wells have been completed and are in flow-back operations. The remaining seven gross (6.6 net) wells are expected to commence completion operations during the remainder of the fourth quarter.

“We continue to make excellent wells in both Dunn and McKenzie Counties, which are integral to our production and cash flow growth trajectory we intend to provide our shareholders. One particularly positive development is the continued strong production profile from our first Three Forks well located in the McKenzie County Koala Project area. As shown above through the first 90 days of production, the well averaged nearly 1,000 BOE/d and is mirroring the offsetting Bakken well drilled just 700 feet away. With additional Three Forks production data, we can provide more accurate estimated ultimate recoveries for the Three Forks in the Koala area. We will also closely monitor the production profile from our two recent Dunn County Three Forks completions which have generated encouraging results.

Dunn County, North Dakota: Bakken Shale update

By Andrea: http://oilshalegas.com

ENSERVCO Corp. (ENSV.OB) recently released an update on the Bakken Shale in Dunn County, North Dakota.

ENSERVCO purchased several acres in Killdeer, North Dakota, and has entered into a construction contract on a new operations center. The facility is expected to be operational in September and will be located in the heart of the Williston Basin's Bakken Shale formation, one of the largest and most active oil fields in the continental United States.

ENSERVCO expects to break ground on the site later this week. At full operation, the facility will support 30 to 35 employees and a comparable number of service and construction vehicles. The facility will feature a maintenance shop and equipment yard, multiple offices and living quarters for up to 16 employees.

"Many of our current customers have established large acreage positions and extensive drilling programs in the Bakken," said Mike Herman, chairman and CEO. "ENSERVCO is an approved service provider to these companies in other major fields, and they have encouraged us to expand our operations into North Dakota."

Initial customers in the Bakken are expected to include EOG Resources and Hess Corporation (two of the largest oil producers in the Basin), Whiting Petroleum, Brigham Exploration and Chesapeake Energy.

Low average annual temperatures in North Dakota result in frac-fluid heating requirements that can extend eight to 10 months out of the year, according to ENSERVCO's customers. Many of these companies also have expressed a need for year-round well maintenance services such as hot oiling and acidizing, as well as well-site construction services.

"We believe our move into the Bakken could be as strategically significant as our successful expansion last year into the Marcellus Shale," Herman said.

ENSERVCO's North Dakota location will commence operations less than a month after the scheduled opening of its Niobrara Shale facility in Cheyenne, WY.

Williams Companies, Inc. (WMB): Bakken Shale Update

By Andrea: http://oilshalegas.com

The Williams Companies, Inc. (WMB) recently released an operational update where it announced that it has completed a major purchase in North Dakota's Bakken oil play from private owners for $925 million cash. Williams announced the acquisition on Nov. 15.

In the transaction, Williams purchased 100 percent of the interests in Dakota-3 E&P Company LLC. Dakota-3 has approximately 85,800 net acres on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in the Williston Basin and 3,300 barrels per day of net oil production from 24 existing wells.

Williams' purchase has an effective date of Oct. 1, subject to standard closing adjustments. Williams is the new owner of Dakota-3, which will continue its existing contractual arrangement for services with the contract operator and field services provider after closing.

Currently, Dakota-3 has three rigs operating on its acreage. Williams expects to double the current level of drilling activity to six rigs by 2012, subject to permitting. Williams estimates that Dakota-3's holdings represent approximately 185 million barrels of oil equivalent in total net reserves potential in the Middle Bakken and the Upper Three Forks formations.

Williams' entry into the Bakken Shale play follows its entry into Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale, where the company has accumulated approximately 100,000 net acres over the past year and a half.

Dunn County, ND: Bakken Shale Update

By Andrea: http://oilshalegas.com

Recently, Continental Resources Inc. (CLR) completed 4 wells located in Dunn County, ND:

Among Continental's operated wells completed in the third quarter of 2010 were the four wells in its first ECO-Pad(R) project - Hegler 1-13H and 2-13H (83% WI) and Arthur 1-12H and 2-12H (94% WI) in Dunn County. Continental's ECO-Pad concept involves drilling paired wells in adjoining 1,280-acre spacing units. The ECO-Pad concept involves drilling the first pair of parallel wells to target the Middle Bakken zone and the Three Forks zone in the first unit, separated vertically by about 50 feet and horizontally by 660 feet. The second pair of wells duplicates this pattern in the adjoining spacing unit.

All four wells are drilled from a single drilling pad, which reduces surface footprint. The Arthur and Hegler wells in the first ECO-Pad project had a one-day test production rate total of 4,359 Boe, for an average of 1,090 Boepd per well.

"Production rates and wellbore pressures clearly indicate that the Middle Bakken and Three Forks zones are isolated from one another, confirming our expanded view of the North Dakota Bakken's potential," Mr. Hamm said. "We are producing these wells under restriction to conserve the energy resource and minimize flaring.

"This is clearly the technology approach to take as we move into full-scale development," Mr. Hamm said.

Northerin Oil and Gas, Inc. - Bakken Shale Update

By Andrea: http://oilshalegas.com

Northern Oil and Gas, Inc. (NOG) recently announced increased 2010 drilling guidance and provided an operations update related to drilling and completion activity in the Williston Basin Bakken and Three Forks play.

2010 DRILLING ACTIVITY

Since January 1, 2010, Northern Oil has spud 21.5 net wells. Northern Oil is currently participating in the drilling or completion of 90 gross Bakken or Three Forks wells, for an aggregate of 10.4 net wells currently drilling, awaiting completion or completing. Of those wells, 5.0 net wells are currently drilling but have not reached total depth, an additional 4.6 net wells have been drilled to total depth and are awaiting completion and the remaining 0.8 net wells are currently undergoing fracture stimulation to commence production.

Northern Oil now expects to spud approximately 24 net wells by the end of 2010, increased from previous guidance of 18 net wells. We believe the increase in expected wells is based upon the increasing rig count, which was at an all-time high of 155 drillings rigs in the North Dakota Bakken play as of October 11, 2010. Northern Oil’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Reger, commented "We continue to experience an increased pace of drilling in the Bakken and Three Forks plays. In addition to allowing Northern Oil to consistently increase its production, increasing drilling activities have also allowed us to observe the impactful delineation of the Three Forks play in key counties of the Williston Basin."

2010 ACREAGE ACQUISITIONS

Northern Oil has acquired a total of 38,864 net acres year-to-date in the core of the Williston Basin Bakken and Three Forks play at a total cost of approximately $42.2 million. This represents an average cost of $1,086 per acre.

Williams County, ND: GeoResources Inc. - Bakken Shale Update

By Andrea: http://oilshalegas.com

GeoResources Inc. (GEOI) recently released an operational update on the Bakken Shale located in Williams County, ND. They have acquired new land and have begun drilling in the area:

On September 25, 2010, they initiated drilling on the Williams County acreage with the Carlson 1-11H well, a Middle Bakken test in Section 11, T157N-R103W. The initial location is a 640 acre drilling unit and they have a 47.5% working interest. We also plan to drill two 1,280 acre spacing units immediately following the Carlson well. Their working interests in these locations are 34% and 35%, respectively.

GeoResources acquired approximately 50,000 net leasehold acres in an AMI covering about 115,000 acres and as mentioned in prior releases, brought in industry partners to participate in development. As operator, they retained a 47.5% working interest, representing approximately 24,000 net acres. Assuming full development on a 1,280 acre spacing unit basis, they have a majority interest and control about forty (40) units and have working interests in another forty-two (42) units. Where they have a minority interest in a spacing unit, they will continue to focus on increasing our interests; thereby increasing the likelihood that they will be the designated unit operator.
