Voyager Oil and Gas Inc. (VYOG.OB) recently released an update on the Bakken Shale located in Mountrail County, ND:
Voyager currently controls approximately 24,000 net acres in the Williston Basin, primarily in Williams, McKenzie and Mountrail Counties, North Dakota and Richland and Roosevelt Counties, Montana. Voyager has spud twelve gross Bakken wells, of which three are producing, four are drilling and five are completing. By the end of 2010, Voyager expects to spud 15 gross Bakken wells. In 2011, Voyager expects to spud approximately 35 gross and 5 net Bakken wells based on recent permitting activity on Voyager's leasehold interests. J.R. Reger, Voyager's CEO, commented, "The accelerated production and positive results across our Bakken/Three Forks position continue to remain within our original expectations. We believe that our 24,000 core acres are being developed by some of the best operators in the play and we are excited to be participating in this premier oil resource play. We continue to focus most of our efforts on leasing and acquisitions in the Bakken and Three Forks play. We are excited to be moving into the production ramp-up stage across our Bakken position. We expect substantial reserve and production additions over the coming months as the position is rapidly developed."

Williams County, ND: GeoResources Inc. - Bakken Shale Update

GeoResources Inc. (GEOI) recently released an operational update on the Bakken Shale located in Williams County, ND. They have acquired new land and have begun drilling in the area:
On September 25, 2010, they initiated drilling on the Williams County acreage with the Carlson 1-11H well, a Middle Bakken test in Section 11, T157N-R103W. The initial location is a 640 acre drilling unit and they have a 47.5% working interest. We also plan to drill two 1,280 acre spacing units immediately following the Carlson well. Their working interests in these locations are 34% and 35%, respectively.
GeoResources acquired approximately 50,000 net leasehold acres in an AMI covering about 115,000 acres and as mentioned in prior releases, brought in industry partners to participate in development. As operator, they retained a 47.5% working interest, representing approximately 24,000 net acres. Assuming full development on a 1,280 acre spacing unit basis, they have a majority interest and control about forty (40) units and have working interests in another forty-two (42) units. Where they have a minority interest in a spacing unit, they will continue to focus on increasing our interests; thereby increasing the likelihood that they will be the designated unit operator.

Since early August 2010, Brigham Exploration Company (BEXP) has expanded its acreage position in the Williston Basin in the Bakken Shale by approximately 10,200 net acres to an estimated 368,400 net acres. In its core Rough Rider project area, Brigham has expanded its acreage position by approximately 7,600 net acres, including a large acreage position obtained as a result of a transaction entered into with Zavanna, LLC. Inclusive of the acreage acquisitions, Brigham now has total core acreage of approximately 205,600 net acres.
Williston Basin Drilling and Completion Update
In its Rough Rider project area, Brigham announced the completion of the Larsen 3-10 #1H and the Boots 13-24 #1H Bakken wells, which produced at early 24-hour peak flow back rates of approximately 3,090 (2,631 barrels of oil and 2.75 MMcf) and 1,946 (1,773 barrels of oil and 1.04 MMcf) barrels of oil equivalent, respectively. The Larsen and Boots are located in Williams County and were both completed with 31 fracture stimulation stages. Brigham's working interests in the Larsen and Boots are approximately 72% and 74%, respectively. Brigham has completed 26 long lateral high frac stage Bakken wells in Rough Rider with an average early 24-hour peak rate of approximately 2,421 barrels of oil equivalent.
Brigham's accelerated development of its core operated acreage in its Rough Rider and Ross project areas is proceeding with four operated rigs drilling in Rough Rider and one operated rig drilling in Ross. Another operated rig is expected to arrive in early October and additional rigs are expected to arrive in January and May 2011, respectively, at which time Brigham will be continuously drilling with eight operated rigs.
Brigham currently has two wells fracing and nine wells waiting on completion. In the first quarter 2011, Brigham expects to add additional fracture stimulation capacity. At that time, Brigham estimates that approximately eight wells per month will be fracture stimulated and brought on line to production.

Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP) announced yesterday that they completed 3 wells in the Bakken Shale area, located in Williams County, ND. The wells averaged a 24-hour peak flow back rate of 2,150 barrels of oil equivalent.
The Weisz 11-14 #1H, Abe Owan 21-16 #1H and the Sukut 28-33 #1H produced at early 24-hour peak flow back rates of 2,278 (2,003 barrels of oil and 1.65 MMcf), 2,213 (1,983 barrels of oil and 1.38 MMcf) and 1,959 (1,752 barrels of oil and 1.24 MMcf) barrels oil equivalent, respectively. The Weisz, Abe Owan and Sukut were completed with 37, 37 and 32 fracture stimulation stages, respectively. Brigham's working interests in the Weisz, Abe Owan and Sukut are approximately 52%, 57% and 42%, respectively. The Sukut was completed with U.S. Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: USEG) and Brigham will back in for a portion of USEG's working interest in the Sukut after payout of the well. Brigham has completed 24 long lateral high frac stage wells in Rough Rider with an average early 24-hour peak rate of approximately 2,413 barrels of oil equivalent.

Continental Resources: Largest Position in Bakken shale

"Continental has built a commanding land position in the Bakken, taking advantage of the competitive strengths that we’ve accumulated in play over the past decade. During the past 10 years, we’ve assembled the best historical database of leasehold in North Dakota in Montana. This allowed us to move very quickly to seize the opportunity as the play expanded. We’ve assembled the largest land position in the Bakken and we’re expanding that position, and we operate the most rigs in the play today."
Continental Resources grew their land position this year by 171,505 net acres that equates to total of 270 net wells on 640 acres space and for one zone. That’s a total of more than 100 basin barrels in reserved potential and if you count the Three Forks, it’s even larger. It could be double. They've acquired prime acreage in the Bakken shale along Anadarko and West Woodford in McKenzie and Williams County as the play has expanded in that direction.

Today, August 25 2010, Resolute Energy (REN) has come out and announced an agreement with Marathon Oil Company (MRO) in the Bakken Shale.
Resolute Energy Enters Agreement with Marathon Oil to Develop Acreage in Bakken Trend
Resolute Energy Corporation (“Resolute”) (NYSE: REN - News) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Marathon Oil Company (“Marathon”) (NYSE: MRO - News) to develop approximately 19,000 gross acres (8,425 net to Resolute) in the Bakken trend in McKenzie County, North Dakota. The agreement enables Resolute to increase its net lease holdings in the Bakken trend by almost 35 percent, to more than 33,000 net acres in Williams and McKenzie Counties, North Dakota.
Under the terms of the agreement, Resolute will earn interests in the acreage by drilling and completing two earning wells. The Company expects that both earning wells will be drilled early in the 4th quarter of 2010. Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) released an update for the Bakken Shale. Pending settlement of the appropriate permits, Samson Oil & Gas will stimulate two new wells by August 23, 2010:
In light of the decision not to proceed with the Exploratory Unit, Samson is also seeking permits for two further wells which will protect a private lease from expiration later this year. All of the leases that are subject to drilling permits will form a post -closing settlement with the Buyer and will be settled in December 2010 so long as the drilling permits are valid and the associated leases remain in place.
Rodney #1-14H (27% working interest)
As of 0600 hours CST the Rodney #1-14H was drilling ahead at a measured depth of 16,372 feet and is expected to reach a total depth of 17,225 feet in the next 24 hours. The well path has been maintained within the Middle Bakken Formation and has returned oil and gas shows that are consistent with previous well in the North Stockyard Field. The Rodney #1-14H well is located in Township 154N, Range 99W, Section 14 in Williams County, North Dakota. This is Samson’s fourth Bakken well in the North Stockyard Field. The fracture stimulation of the Rodney well is planned as a 35 stage stimulation placing 4 million pounds of proppant and is due to commence the week of August 23rd.
Gary #1-24H (37% working interest)
The Gary well has been drilled and cased to a total depth of 17,727 feet and the fracture stimulation of that well is planned to commence on August 30th. The stimulation is planned to include 20 stages, 5 stages more than the Gene well which returned an IP of in excess of 3000 BOEPD. The stimulation will include the placement of 3 million pounds of proppant. The Gary #1-24H well is located in Township 154N, Range 99W, Section 24 in Williams County, North Dakota. This well was Samson’s third Bakken well in the North Stockyard Field.
Stimulation Operations
Operations to stimulate both the Rodney and the Gary wells are expected to commence the week of August 23rd. The detail sequencing of the stimulation operations have yet to finalized, but the current plan is to commence the first 8 stages of the 35 stage plan in Rodney and then to proceed to the 20 stage Gary stimulation.

Brigham Exploration Adds Bakken Shale Acreage

August 03, 2010: Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP) announced today that it has expanded its acreage 17% in the Williston Basin - a rough 52,800 net acres. They also expanded a net estimate of 34,000 acres in and around its Rough Rider project area in Williams County, North Dakota, McKenzie County, North Dakota and Richland County, Montana. Bakken Shale - CLR Continental Resources Update - Three Forks - Williams County, Divide County
This morning, Continental Resources ( CLR ), the biggest operator in North Dakota's Bakken Shale is out with an operational update and news on their Bakken Shale progress:
Continental Resources, Inc. (CLR) today announced initial production results for four wells that it recently completed in the northern portion of its North Dakota Bakken acreage, including its fifth well targeting the Three Forks/Sanish (TFS) formation.
The Omar 1-1H (41% WI) in Williams Co. flowed at an average rate of 1,126 barrels of crude oil equivalent per day (boepd) from the TFS formation during its seven-day production period test. The Omar 1-1H was drilled as a single lateral on 1,280-acre spacing.
Also in the northern portion of Continental's North Dakota acreage, the Company completed three wells targeting the Middle Bakken zone. The Company completed the Bliss 1-16H (54% WI) in Divide Co., the Skar 1-21H (54% WI) in Divide Co., and the Overlee 1-30H (54% WI) in Burke Co. for average rates of 476, 394 and 198 boepd respectively in their seven-day production period tests. The three wells were completed as single laterals on 1,280-acre spacing.
Continental is operating 10 rigs in the North Dakota Bakken play at this time, with six of those targeting the Three Forks/Sanish formation, which typically lies 50-to-125 feet below the Middle Bakken zone across the Company's North Dakota acreage.
"These four new completions further validate the productive potential of the northern part of our Bakken acreage," said Harold Hamm, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We are in the process of completing three more TFS wells in this area at this time. Data from these will add to our understanding of the TFS potential in Burke, Divide and Williams counties."
