The first law, called The Mineral Rights Act - House Bill No. 1436, is being drafted to ensure land is actively being used where Marcellus Shale activity is plausible. The second bill, called The Conservation Pooling Act, is being drafted to ensure conservation of the land while actively protecting land owners.

I think this is a good turn for Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania. It will stir activity in the Marcellus Shale areas while keeping a positive spin and a close watch on the drilling activities. Some major companies currently involved in Marcellus Shale activity include: Exxon Mobile (XOM), Range Resources (RRC), Chesapeake Energy (CHK), EOG Resources (EOG), Saint Mary Land and Exploration (SM) and Unit Corp (UC).
